From there, that company reaches out, comes to the house if you say yes, draws up any estimate and carries out whatever work you choose to hire it for. The site does not rank or vouch for contractors, and advertising money does not buy a recommendation. Before you sign, look up the contractor's license with the Chicago Department of Buildings (312.744.3449) or check your suburb's registration, request certificates showing liability coverage and workers' comp, and make sure a City-licensed plumber, or a licensed drainlayer for sewer work, will do any plumbing or sewer piping under the proper permits.
