Basement Waterproofing Service Areas Around Chicago, IL
This site takes basement requests from across Chicago, IL and from five suburbs in Cook County. Each one goes to a single independent local contractor, who comes out and writes up an estimate; the referral service itself does no basement work.
Where Requests Come From
The City of Chicago sits at the center: the North Side, the South Side, the West Side and the Southwest Side, from lakefront two-flats to the bungalow belt. Every neighborhood is welcome. Inside city limits, most building work needs a City-licensed general contractor, and a backup through a floor drain gets reported to 311.
Outside Chicago, each of the five suburbs below runs its own building department and sets its own contractor rules. None of them is part of the city, and each town page lists the local office to contact.

Find Your Town
- Oak Park, IL. About 9 miles west of downtown, across Austin Boulevard from Chicago's Austin neighborhood. Most homes date from 1892 to 1950, and drain tile and sump permits go through the village's Permits office on Madison Street.
- Evanston, IL. About 12 miles north, home to Northwestern University. The entire city runs on a combined sewer, and every contractor working under a permit has to register with the City.
- Park Ridge, IL. About 15 miles northwest, next to Chicago's Norwood Park, with about 85% of homes owner-occupied, the highest share of the five. Contractors register with the city every year.
- Oak Lawn, IL. About 14 miles southwest, a village that boomed after World War II, so most homes date from the 1950s and 1960s. It keeps storm and sanitary sewers separate, and contractors hold a yearly village license.
- Orland Park, IL. About 25 miles southwest, with the newest homes of the five and mostly poured-concrete basements from the 1970s to 2000s. Contractors must be licensed with the village before it issues permits.
Sewer backups in a suburb are a question for that town's public works department, since 311 belongs to the City of Chicago.
Outside These Towns?
Live just past one of these lines? Nearby Cook County towns such as Berwyn, Cicero, Skokie, Des Plaines and Elmwood Park have no pages here. Try the area check, or put your address in the form, and you'll hear plainly whether a contractor can help.
When a contractor is available, they reach out directly to book a time and later hand over a written estimate. Contractors may pay this site to advertise; asking costs you nothing, and nothing is given in return.
